I was just contacted to link to someone on Linkedin, and did so. Before I backed out of the site I started paging through the “people you may know” section. While the vast majority of these people we’re other Realtors and old clients, there were also people that I haven’t been in contact with for at least ten years. It’s not worth explaining to me how Linkedin is able to make these conections, but pretty sure it has to do with my email addresses, Facebook friends, and cross connections on Linkedin. So pretty much my internet activity.
All this got me thinking. If Linkedin is able to do this, why isn’t MLS? I may be pushing myself out of a job here, but wouldn’t there be some internet history on your home searches. And say you went and did a home search any number of sites, why couldn’t that site (this one included) come up with a “you may also like” section based on the detail of similar homes that have caught your attention? If you can point your camera-phone at a home and get it’s Zestimate, I’m sure this capability isn’t too far off.
But
in the end you never really know until you get inside the home and look around. Which gets me thinking MLS with holographic technology. Now that would be something!
You know that’s not a bad idea. With google maps you can drive down the street across the world on your pc. Why can’s you do the same thing for homes that are for sale on the market? I know it would be spendy for a local company but could be well worth it too!
